  • deaf — Character is or features deaf.
  • death — The artwork features death.
  • Death Game — This visual novel contains a death game as a major element. In a death game, one or more "players" are forced against their will to play a game under punishment of death if they fail. If the "game" involves killing other players, use Battle Royale instead.
  • Death Note — These games feature characters that are from the Death Note series.
  • debris — The artwork features debris.
  • Debt — This game features debt as its story element. Debt is an obligation that requires one party, the debtor, to pay money or other agreed-upon value to another party, the creditor.
  • decapitation — The artwork features decapitation.
  • decepticon — The artwork features decepticon.
  • deep penetration — The artwork features deep penetration.
  • deep skin — A character has deep skin.
  • deer — The artwork features deer.
  • deer antlers — The artwork features deer antlers.

  • Defloration by an Object — This VN has scenes of a character having their first sexual experience with an object / a sex toy. Example
  • Defloration by Others — This game has one or more scenes of a heroine losing virginity to a character different from the protagonist. Do not use this tag for games where the characters have sexual experience from the beginning.
  • Defloration During Common Route — This game features at least one instance of loss of virginity during the common route; in other words before entering into a branch for a specific romantic interest. This tag should not be used for games featuring a single romantic interest.
  • deformed — The artwork features deformed.
  • Deities — A game with this tag has some supernatural divinities, gods, or goddess' on its cast. They may be originating from one of the popular mythologies or may be based on games original story. Or may be they are from one of the accepted religions around the world, if the game is brave enough.
  • Deity Protagonist — The protagonist of this visual novel is a god.
  • delinquent — Character personality or condition: delinquent.
  • Delusion — Plot points in this game involve delusions. A delusion is a false belief held with absolute conviction despite superior evidence. Unlike hallucinations, delusions are always pathological (the result of an illness or illness process). As a pathology, it is distinct from a belief based on false or incomplete information, dogma, stupidity, poor memory, illusion, or other effects of perception.
  • delusional — Character personality or condition: delusional.
  • Demihuman — Sexual content/relationship with a character who is mostly human-like, but with small characterization of other races, eg, Elves, Orcs, etc. Not to be confused with Furry
  • demon — Sexual content/relationship with a character who is a devil, succubus, incubus, or similar demon
  • demon boy — The artwork features demon boy.
  • demon horns — A character has demon horns.
  • demon megami tensei — The artwork features demon megami tensei.
  • demon slayer uniform — A character wears a demon slayer uniform.
  • demon tail — A character has a demon tail.
  • demon wings — A character has demon wings.
  • Demonic Contract (Non Sexual) — This game features demonic contracts. A demonic contract is an ancient belief that mortals can sacrifice something important to a demon in exchange for a wish of their choosing becoming true. Typically, it's when a human offers their soul to a demon so they can be immortal, cure an illness, or even take over the world. Don't use this tag for scenarios where the protagonist has sex with a horny.

  • Denial Play — When a character is denied from sex and/or orgasms, either voluntarily or by use of a chastity cage/belt.
  • denim — The artwork features denim.
  • denim jacket — The artwork features denim jacket.
  • denim shorts — The artwork features denim shorts.
  • denim skirt — A character wears a denim skirt.
  • Denpa — Denpa games are a subgenre of horror eroge, popularised by the 1996 Leaf game 'Shizuku' which also lent the genre its name. The typical model is a horror story where the catalyst for the events that occur are based on familiar people acting in unfamiliar, yet seemingly orchestrated ways. Stories where the world seems to have gone mad; and the protagonist is not necessarily an exception. The name.
  • depth of field — The artwork features depth of field.
  • deredere — Openly affectionate and sweet.
  • Descriptions of Violence — This game features some scenes with descriptions of violence. The violence in these said scenes are not presented visually, but only as text, hence the difference of this tag from the Graphic Violence. This presentation may be preferable by those who do not like seeing vivid images of violent nature.
  • Desert — This visual novel has a lot of scenes set in a desert.
  • desi — The artwork features desi.
  • Design Story — These games revolve around a group of characters working to design something or such an act takes a huge part in the story. They may be working to design (create) doujin comics, games and such or may be employed in a company that works in such a field. Do not use for games about music and food related projects, since there are already tags for those.
  • Designer Hero — One or more of the heroes in a VN with the tag is a designer of some description, such as a fashion, graphic, interior, etc. designer. A designer is a person who designs. More formally, a designer is an agent that "specifies the structural properties of a design object". In practice, anyone who creates tangible or intangible objects, such as consumer products, processes, laws, games, graphics,.
