Satire can be described simply as a way of criticizing the society, people or concepts in the society with the use of humor, irony or ridicule. The main purpose of satire is to expose the follies and weaknesses of the society. Satirists use euphemism, irony, exaggeration, and understatement to show, with a greater or lesser degree of levity, the follies of mankind and the paradoxes and idiocy.
